Times Book of Prayers

When readers of The Times were invited to write prayers of their own, and submit them for inclusion in this book, the response was overwhelming. Ruth Gledhill has chosen from over 1,000 prayers, some 200 to be included in this collection. These frank, personal and often simple prayers were written by students, priests, doctors, teachers, mothers, professionals, and even children. The prayers are on themes of insomnia, parenting, forgiveness, depression, football, fatigue, dyslexia, losing a child, irritability, panic attacks, commitment, and even the pain of forgetting how to pray. They also celebrate flying kites, eating fudge, church cats, bats, playing cards, safe driving, personal tributes to wives and husbands and, of course football.
