This collection of four stories from Britain's most celebrated dog illustrator, Cecil Aldin, showcases the cheeky canine scamps always on the hunt for stray food and adventure. As an illustrator, Aldin was unsurpassed in depicting the character of a dog-an ability that made him a household name in Britain in the early 20th century. The four tales included here developed from illustrations drawn on the wall of his children's bedroom in the years before World War I, his most prolific period. Aldin's sense of fun shines as Poppy, Scamp, Snowball, and Bobtail jump off the page, such as when Poppy terrorizes a parrot and rabbit before finding an old paint can to get him in even more trouble.

Author Biography: Cecil Aldin was born in 1870 and began his working life as a magazine illustrator. He later became famous for his animal prints-especially his portrayals of dogs. He illustrated many books, including Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book.
