Davies' book is designed to help military personnel who must implement and manage change, as well as consultants working with the military, and business leaders and civilian organizations who don't object to considering military case studies. The initial chapters define the idea of change and its force in military organization. Several diverse military case studies, both historical and recent—one is based on Davies' research of the Australian Army—are followed by a proposed management strategy. A management plan is outlined in conclusion.
