This book represents a distinctive and original development within the philosophy of education. All the contributors are eminent pure philosophers with established reputations in traditional areas of philosophy, who have nevertheless been willing to turn their attention to various topics of educational significance, related to their particular philosophical interests. D. Z. Phillips, Antony Flew and Martin Hollis look at the logic of educational aims and achievements; Neil Cooper, R. S. Downie and G. H. R. Parkinson explore the connections between knowledge and education; and W. D. Hudson, R. W. Hepburn and Don Locke focus more specifically upon the areas of religion and morality.
