MRI: A Conceptual Overview

This text is written for medical professionals involved in obtaining a nd interpreting MR images and presented to the reader in a visual, ima ge-based style. The author's intention is to succinctly explain the sc ientific principles of magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, co nvey an appreciation for the signal encoding and decoding processes em ployed in MR, and cultivate in the reader a working understanding of t he contrast mechanisms which apply in the acquisition and display of M R data. In addition, the text will also provide the reader with the co nceptual tools required to keep abreast of innovations in the field, w hile serving as a ready reference for questions relating to image qual ity and artifacts, allowing readers to critically evaluate the advanta ges and disadvantages of the different systems and techniques availabl e for clinical MR imaging.
