It's World War II. The globe is buzzing with bombs, clatter, and chaos. Newlywed science and math scholar Helmut Lemmer has just been drafted into the Wehrmacht, the German army, as a tank commander. Everything he is about to experience will change his life forever-if he can survive it all.
Helmut's life is put in danger after he witnesses members of the German SS brutally massacre civilians in Poland. He is forced to question his own tactics, ideals, and honor as he attempts to escape the threats of the SS and make it back home to his wife safely.
Helmut grows increasingly disillusioned with the war as he is repeatedly dragged into battle and confrontation. Yet he also receives hospitality and help from unlikely supporters, and he becomes increasingly enchanted by the humanity and hope some people are willing to share.
An intelligent, intriguing, and intense military adventure, Soldier In, Savage Out is replete with action, suspense, and full of information, as it accurately recounts many of the pivotal battles waged during WWII.
