Abby was just a small-town reporter until she uncovers Raphael Martinez's dirty little secret and it blows her whole world apart.

She must rise from the ashes of her life to become Phoenix, a woman bent on exposing Raphael's secret to the world. That this corporate tycoon is actually working for the mob, leading the New Zealand arm of organised crime into the 21st century.

Then she meets Michael, a former cop with his own aims to hit organised crime where it hurts.

They discover a mutual attraction which develops into more but their respective missions threaten their relationship.
