Bright Interval

It is the last evening of Kate's Austrian holiday tour and as she enjoys a glass of wine on the sun-drenched terrace of the hotel, she is joined by four very different tour members - Freda, Elizabeth, Flo, and Lottie - and Frau Klein, the widowed hotel owner. Each woman has come to Austria for different reasons and has gained valuable experience. As the sun sets gently over the mountains, they forget their differences as they exchange amusing holiday anecdotes, feelings of happiness and sadness, worries and past histories. The mood of the play changes frequently as the characters come and go and situations alter. Dialogue meanders from the light-hearted to the lyrically introspective. Elizabeth, however, has one more revelation to make before the evening has finished.
