"No taxation without representation!" "Don't tread on me!" "Give me liberty or give me death!" Any one of these famous slogans conjures images of the struggle between Great Britain and her colonies- a struggle which ultimately lead to creation of these United States. Imagine what it would be like to live in the one of the thirteen colonies during those momentous times. Within these pages, you will find that is exactly what the middle school students of Decatur Discovery Academy have done. Each student has crafted his or her own colonial character and envisioned growing up and coming of age in this time of acts, notices, taxes, and revolution.
