Where Whirlwinds Took Them: Journeys of Two New Mexico Families

Two New Mexico families went forth from a place named whirlwind, a poor society more 19th than 20th century, barely speaking English, and with little schooling. They worked on farms, lived in shacks, basements and even chicken houses, but not for long. They found work in towns, bought their own homes, learned new skills. Their children went to high school, then college, graduate schools, entered the professions or started businesses. This book is their story, told in their own words, through oral history, memoir and narration by one of those who made the journey.
