The Virginia Presidents: A Travel and History Guide

The historical narrative guides the traveler through the lives of the eight men from Virginia who became president of the United States: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson.

Two of their birth homes- Harrison and Wilson- and two of their birth sites- Washington and Monroe- may be visited. Two of their birth homes- Tyler and Taylor- still exist, but are in private hands and not open to the public. There are seven homes in Virginia, one in Washington DC, and one in Indiana that have been preserved as memorials in which guides and exhibits tell the story of their exceptional lives and the nation that they created.

This unique history and travel guide is presented with special attention not only to presidential homes, but to the many other sites for each president that may be visited.
