Marine Leroy is a French child fiercely attached to her tutor. She will be betrayed: her family is divided between Fascists and Resistants and for some, the war turns division into opportunity. Lyman Hall, a young American economist and an envoy of President Roosevelt, dreams of methodologies that would bring world peace and end the Great Depression.
