Searching for the Shire is a coming of age story that takes you on one woman’s journey to find her place in society during the 70’s and 80’s, a time when women were rebelling against the traditional roles of gender. Searching for a simple life, she takes the familiar route of her mother and becomes a housewife. Sheltered within the institution of marriage, she devotes herself to family life. However, the outside world has a way of creeping in. Facing divorce and losing everything, she worked for and after thirty years of marriage, she finds herself back where she started. Florence must learn how to survive on her own and discovers her inner-strength.
