It was a numbing experience for this loving husband and father. In 1999, Charles Foster lost his wife of 25 years to colon cancer. In his book, "The Surviving Spouse Club" he states, "As a surviving spouse I never realized how much information my wife possessed and how much she knew that I did not know."
After her death, he was stunned to discover how much knowledge his wife took to her grave and much of it he needed desperately. This is because they were both busy people who had divided tasks just like most families, but never considered that one day one of them may have to continue alone and do so without the knowledge of the other. This created fear, loneliness and emptiness for him, secondly only to her death.
To any survivor, fear and loneliness are very real. Those feelings are compounded when that empty, jaw-dropping reality sets in that the only person who possesses that information no longer exists. This was also a very expensive lesson for him because of laws and regulations. It is so devastating for the one left behind to deal with the grief of loss, but then be parlayed to recall vital information.
"The Surviving Spouse Club Workbook" continues the work he began in his inspirational book, "The Surviving Spouse Club." He used the word "Club" in his title because the death of a spouse immediately enrolls the surviving spouse into a club that no one wants to join, but everyone will join some day. The book is written for those who have lost a spouse with words of encouragement and the step by step process necessary to survive loss.
The workbook will benefit anyone, but it is especially valuable for married couples. For many couples the planning process of preparing this information enhances their relationship, bringing them closer, improving their communications and increasing their level of peace and security.
The set of both book and workbook just might be the best gift you could give to your spouse.
