A self-taught gardener, she sprinkles advice about plants among the vignettes of the folks who plant them. She is fluid and funny, and her garden knowledge is on the mark. Stories of the bootlegger who grew cannas and the conflict between the City Mouse and the Country Mouse are sure to grab the reader's interest. A good read for any time of the year.
