No Excuses

This book tells the story of one man's journey from humble a life of success. Walter Hairston grew up in poverty and in times of racial segregation; he lived through times of hardship in the Great Depression and experienced homelessness in 1947 yet he persevered on his journey to create a better life for himself and for his family. Three successful careers later, Walter now lives in the "upstairs house" of his childhood dreams, and then some. The overriding message in his story is that your circumstances do not dictate who you are or what you can achieve in life. Everyone has the same opportunity to make the best of themselves: there are no excuses.
