The Architects and The Process of Simplicity are the first two novellas of C.R. Reardon's 4wheelin'. Both novellas are accompanied by fifteen poems that correlate with elements of each story or its characters. When complete, 4wheelin' will have four novellas with poems from four different genres: action/crime, romance, comedy, science fiction.
The Architects takes place in Boston and is about a group of individuals in wheelchairs who know each other from a rehab hospital. They can't find jobs and have very few options to pursue happiness. Fed up with their situations and inaccessible surroundings, The Architects participate in illegal actions to acquire money and, as Malcolm says, 'make the world around them worth living in.'
Contrastingly, The Process of Simplicity is a story of first love between Jack Young and Evelina Flores. The story takes place over a three-day period after Jack and Evelina's first meeting in Tucson, Arizona, where they are university students. Jack, in a wheelchair, is reserved but intrigued by Evelina's mercurial temperament and attractive looks. The couple's tumultuous pasts and enthusiasm for the artistic makes their coupling more plausible than many may assume.
