The true story of Edmund Survilla, a tail gunner in the 453rd Bomb Group. He defended the tail of a B-24 Liberator named " Lucky Penny". Ssgt. Survilla flew 32 missions over Fortress Europe out of Old Buckenham, England, from January, 1944, to June, 1944. In his early missions, Edmund dueled with the Luftwaffe in aerial combat before the Allied Forces had achieved Air Superiority. Edmund flew in such historic raids as Big Week, first daylight raid on Berlin, and D-Day.

Edmund's story is a gripping biographical account that is deeply personal. Edmund's recollections and memoirs are not white washed or tempered by time. The part of his life as a United States Army Air Corps airman in the E.T.O. is laid open for the reader to contemplate. Edmund tells all.
