The Wellspring Immortal

From the wellspring flows a magic that draws ancient forces from below that brings immortality - and physical pleasure beyond description. Once felt, experiencing it again is all that matters - but its price is paid in blood.

Kani has led his people for over twelve hundred years, but can no longer stand what the magic demands - or his incessant longing for it.

He and his student, Pico, embark on a journey to the wellspring. Once underway, the boy learns that he is to inherit his teacher's powers - but only if he is willing to slay him at the wellspring's altar.

Kani intends for Pico to continue combating the evil pursuits of his childhood friend, Enos, with whom he acquired the magic centuries before.

Pico isn't the first student to be brought to the wellspring. Kani prays he will be able resist the magic's call and at last have his true spirit released to join its ancestor's on the winds.

He regrets that Pico will be left a slave to the magic's call, but it is his only way to end his suffering.
