In the fall of 2010, the staff of Downtown Books & Coffee decided to start a contest that would showcase the creativity, talent and storytelling ability of its local community. The Downtown Stories Contest took in short story submissions of all genres from all ages. Once a month, a winner was chosen who received a gift from the store as well as their own place in this anthology that includes stories from all of the winners.
