Adolescence is a difficult time for everyone. With the ever growing rate of Teenage Suicide, the bullying epidemic taking the national spotlight thanks to avenues such as Facebook and Twitter, and the growing deficit of coping and social skills of today's youth, it is extremely crucial that teenagers understand that, "Trouble don't last always".
"In My Own Words" is a series of books filled with stories of survival and overcoming adversity. Written BY youth, FOR youth and edited by Staci K. Whiteside, M.A., LPC, stories range from topics such as Homelessness, Bullying, Addiction, Coming Out, Depression (and other varying Mental Disease), and much more. The sole purpose of the collection of works is to help today's youth know and understand that no matter their situation, they are NOT alone and it indeed DOES GET BETTER.
