Tarzan of the Apes

John Clayton is orphaned in the jungle, and raised by apes as Tarzan (meaning "white skin" in the ape's language). He knows he's different from the apes, so when he discovers his parents' cabin, he begins to learn of his heritage.

Enter Jane Porter, the first white woman, Tarzan has ever seen. He must know more, but there are many obstacles in his path.

This is the first of the books about Tarzan, and the character quickly grew into a pop culture phenomenon.
