"What interests me the most about the process of taking photographs is not getting an image that simply shows the viewer something, however beautiful that might be. What's really most interesting is getting an image that seems to want to bring attention to the process of seeing, that makes us at least somewhat aware that seeing actually is a process. We know that perception is not just a matter of things appearing in front of our eyes. When we see, we are seeing through something, i.e. our perceptions are filtered and modified by the natural imperfections of our visual sensory system, and even more importantly by our mental processes. The result is that we see more with our minds than we do with our eyes. Seeing is an inherently strange and mysterious process." - E. J. Evans
