Sword of Stone

Every fifty years, the male heir to the Vamori chieftain must embark on a quest to "feed" its sacred artifact: a legendary and sentient Sword of Stone. However, when there are no male heirs, Leanah-daughter of the chieftain-takes the sword herself to do what no other dares to do: kill the Shadowed Wing and feed her village's protector.

Leanah is joined by a fire mage who speaks to squirrels and a Shaper who is gifted with an artistic ability to interpret events yet to come, and what he sees will bring about the end of her village and the world itself.
