Culture Man is a rambling display of thought put to paper. It is meant to be in raw form; as is, with mistakes and all. It is primarily about the small case jesus the culture has produced. The 6' 2" shampooed hair Western version of the Savior, as far as appearances go. But more: philosophically, it is about this chasm created by material prosperity starting with the industrial revolution production-wise delineating between the good and bad, right and wrong, beautiful and ugly. In short, Performance Reality to analogously adjudge all abstraction in the mind, and, if I may, subdue the poets to analysis in prose instead of just plain old 'feeling'. In science the authority is based on the model that can be tested over and over again by experimentation. Oddly, though, a model of the Universe can't ever be produced to enable another one to be tested against it: to verify it's origins by comparison; reproduced in the laboratory. Similarly, a real Jesus can't appear to put against the culture's one, to see if we have the correct version of our day. It is in my rambling expose's (in Culture Man) of first draft misspelling un-grammatical philosophical warts-and-all portraits of nonsense' about the next world's sense, that we bridge this chasm between the moneyed small case jesus' material reality science forced us into accepting, and the Jesus His mother and brothers came to retrieve, from his apparent insanity, to take Him away because He was acting crazy documented in the Scriptures. I believe this is the Holy Spirit's Jesus, as presented through the scriptures. Philosophy has lost its savior by substituting the caricature of dactyl sense (reality) for Revelation and inner life belief power, and Christianity, has in it's own way, because Jesus has left with His mother and brothers and volunteered to go to psychotherapy. The book Culture Man is the disemboweling of my innards onto the pavement of literature to cope.
