Twists of Fate

On New Year's Eve three years ago, Dr. Maria Grayson and Dr. Joe (Barly) Bartholomew lit a flame of passion. Morning brought clarity, and their paths diverged leaving a spark from the fire smoldering. Maria believes her destiny lies elsewhere and returns to the love of a Florida fisherman. Barly remains in Maine, burned by her rejection.

In Florida, Maria reels from blows life continues to throw at her, leaving her isolated, adrift. She retreats behind imaginary walls with feelings of failure in her marriage and subsequently the sudden death of her husband. A dream forms that one day the void in her life may be filled. Alone, Maria is drawn to return to Maine, wondering if the spark left three years ago can be rekindled.

At the same time, Dr. Bartholomew fights his own feelings of failure. Barly doesn't believe in fate, but believes that humans have a way of stabbing fate in the belly.

Is it fate that pulls Maria back to Maine? Can Maria and Barly rekindle the spark that burned inside years ago? They both fear it, yet dream of it.
