Bum Rush the Commons: Enter the Era of the Water Wars

A water war is coming. Like a dust storm ready to consume all in its path, greed and corruption have joined forces to build a world ripe for the next great plague. While most fight to protect the precious basic element of life a few see an opportunity to take control of what remains of the world's freshwater. An elaborate plan deeply rooted in political corruption, espionage and treason is underway to invade the U.S.; the prize being the freshwater bounty of the Great Lakes.

Max Flanery, a retired war veteran is enjoying her new home, the freedom of her civilian life and a new job when she was thrust into the front line of a Chinese military invasion on U.S. soil. As the lead engineer of a Great Lakes water diversion pipeline project in northern Minnesota, Max and her crew are taken captive by Chinese military paratroopers. A decisive yet fast-tempered Max finds her equal in a stealthy and seemingly soulless leader of the Chinese invaders who everyone calls the Captain.

Tou Lee, a Hmong immigrant with a tragic past, and his son are on a hunting trip when they are captured and taken prisoner by the Chinese. They join Max and her crew in an explosive escape attempt and heroic chase through the northern forest. In pursuit are hundreds of soldiers desperate to catch them before they make it out of the occupied zone to freedom. Max's military savvy and Tou's intimate knowledge of the North County fight to keep them from the brutality that could ultimately catch up with and destroy them.

Hundreds of miles south in Michigan, Max's husband Eric Flannery, a displaced newspaper journalist, works his contacts to develop a news story to expose China's true intensions and a U.S. leader's decades of indiscriminate corruption.

Politicians will fall from the top down, martial law will emerge and a theater of war will rise up on American soil for the first time since the Civil War as we enter the era of the water wars.
