Craving a release from his young monotony, newly-sober Adam Collins leaves his reporting job and girlfriend behind and follows his musical ambitions to a studio in Los Angeles, specifically in Topanga Canyon, an odd and isolated enclave in the Santa Monica mountains. Adam wants what he thinks his friends have there - a freewheeling, careless life of abandon, but Adam struggles with one question again and again: At what cost?
