Telling the truth is difficult for some and hearing it even more difficult for others. "Racing to the Brink..." uses facts, truths and expert analysis to explain the evolution of our American economics, its politics and especially how race, racism and capitalism have combined to bring us to the brink of either our next major chapter in history or our final one in this experiment as a democratic republic.

You will learn how the most primitive human societies created concepts like hoarding that morphed into greed which, coupled with the emerging concept of barter and economics, led to capitalism and other economic practices. You will see how some of these primitive instincts persist today, but in the modern world's demands. In the American context, the reader will examine the relationships between our economic, political and social evolution as it relates to our education, our passion for guns and how we have become a warring nation in the twenty-first century.

This book also includes solutions and answers to the conundrums and problems that plague every aspect of American life. The intent is to stimulate the reader to not only become a participant in the democratic process, but to formulate ideas at the personal and community levels to make our society worthy of our pride and have it respected by others such that we re-discover our own humility: the most gracious form of pride.

The research for this book is broad and deep and draws heavily on experts in the field such as Naomi Klein, Chris Hedges, Rachel Maddow and Paul Krugman. I included Lincoln's second inaugural address as an eloquent plea to my fellow citizens to join me in working to make our country do what it was intended, by its founders, for its citizens and for its place in the world.
