Hope Cassel has made mistakes. For years, Hope has stayed single, avoiding love...and heartbreak. Having raised a daughter on limited means, she learns she has inherited a motel north of Dallas from her uncle. Hope's daughter Cammy is entering her second-year as a psychology major in a local university. Her internship at a homeless shelter brings her into contact with a homeless veteran nicknamed Bulldog. She is determined to learn how to heal him. Psychology professor Zane Kipling runs the shelter, mentoring Cammy. But though life has brought him career success, he is a widower who has lost faith. Meanwhile, an old friend, Harlin Bowen, a man of God and a state trooper, happens to be stationed near the motel.
