Defining Joy

"Wondrous plans for the future. Ruth and Derek had those. Now, she was happy to simply get through the day. The future, the one that included a husband and kids and ideas like 'growing old together' was gone."

When Ruth loses her husband, she is forced to make some difficult decisions. Finally, in search of a fresh start, she decides to move to Ireland with her mother-in-law. She takes a job in a pub and quickly develops a friendship with the owner.

It is through that friendship and her journey of faith that she realizes God has a future and a hope for her. But knowing it and living it are two entirely different things.
