Two Japanese forms of poetry and presented in The Sly Chapbook (The Two Faces of the Fox). These poetry forms are senryu and haiku, which represent our duplicitous nature and the two faces we show to others. One form, senryu, represents that face we present to others and can often emphasize our foibles. While haiku represents that face we show to those we trust-that of our true selves and often hinges on our connection to nature. In Sly, I've utilized a more modern version of these forms of poetry rather than maintain the original format, in order to explore the duality of our nature as human beings. A third form of poetry in Sly is that of free form poetry, and is a follow-on to a similar style published my first book of poetry, Eigengrau (by Dawn Pearson, Booktrope Publishing 2015).
