Nashville Pikes, Volume Two: 150 Years Along Hillsboro Pike is the second of a series of books written by Ridley Wills II. The first volume, published in 2015, was about historic sites along the Franklin and Granny White Pikes, while the third, expected to be published in 2017, will be about historic sites along the Harding Pike. On May 7, 2016, Mr. Wills was given an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the University of the South. The profile of Mr. Wills, printed in the baccalaureate service program, read, in part: "William Ridley Wills II, an heir to one of Nashville's most notable families, is a well-known historian and author. A prolific author, he has written 22 books, including The History of Belle Meade: Mansion, Plantation and Stud; Belle Meade Country Club; Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete: The History of Montgomery Bell Academy; The YMCA of Middle Tennessee; Tennessee Governors at Home; and the Hermitage at 100, Nashville's First Million Dollar Hotel. His other books involve local history and biographies of prominent Nashvillians. Mr. Wills has been called 'Nashville's unofficial historian.' His insatiable interest in history led him to writeTouring Tennessee: A postcard Panorama 1898-1955, showcasing some of the 30,000 Tennessee postcards he has collected.
