Nightingale A Ministering Angel, My Beginning is a light heartened Christian historical fiction. The purpose of the book is to teach biblical scriptures about creation, Jesus' ministry, and salvation using a fictional character baseline.
Nightingale, the main character was created to be a worshiping angel. He has a sweet and innocent personality, but has a problem of with being clumsy. He and his angelical friends watch in awe as God, God Son, and God Holy Spirit create time, the solar system, earth, and especially humanity. Some of the host have mixed feeling as to why God would do such a thing when he has them.
After watching his friend Grace, a ministering angel, for thousands of years his heart leads him to want to minister to earth humans. He finally gets up the nerve to request the change, and the higher up angelical leaders accepts him as a ministering angel-temporary. As Nightingale goes through several decades of ministering angel’s intensive training he learns that his first assignment, Robert Cantrell, will grow up to be a thief.
For Nightingale to become permanent, he must travel to earth and guide Robert to repentance. At age 17 Robert leaves the faith and turns to a life of crime. As Nightingale attempts to keep demons at bay, he realizes that Robert is like doubting Thomas who could only believe after personally seeing Jesus' nail scared hands. Nightingale as the Holy Spirit permission to take Robert back to the last year of Jesus’ ministry. As the unlikely pair follow Jesus, Robert begins to question why he has chosen an immoral path.
