A Sack of Buttered Scones: A Lifetime of Poetry

The title of this collection of poems was suggested by a line from 'Gilloge', a fantastical piece which showcases the poet's imagination and sense of fun. The poems demonstrate the poet's changing focus as he matured over the decades, from a young man in the 1950s to a seasoned septuagenarian of the early 21st Century. Within these pages, the reader can discover a wide range of human emotions described first-hand and personally from the depths of each experience: shyness, love, desire, the dreams of a young man, fear, hope, compassion, observations of nature, daring peeks into the future, bubbling humour, national pride, disgust, despair, nostalgia, happiness, grief, anger, philosophy, satire, and social and political commentaries.
