Northwood

Northwood is a coming of age novel set in the 1970's of Columbus, Ohio. On a street near Ohio State University, a friendly neighborhood helps the protagonist find himself after a life crisis. Counseling visits and group therapy at the local mental health center punctuate the progress of self discovery. The central character is an artist and photographer working for a sign company. He learns sign language to communicate with a deaf co-worker, who becomes his friend. The novel is also a snapshot of Columbus, Ohio during an interesting era, seen through the eyes of an unusual cast of characters.
