Candice Can Go

Stuck in a small desert town on the border of California and Nevada (which she sarcastically refers to as Californada because there's nada to do there), Candice feels like she does not fit in at home nor at school and her only escape is through the books she reads at her local library.

However, another disappointing summer vacation is the last straw for Candice and, using chicanery and self-taught engineering skills, she sets off to pursue her dream of becoming an explorer/poet. Candice is joined by her reasonable brother Daniel, the aspiring chef, and her youngest brother, Baby Coop, as they discover real life places and events across the globe.

Along the way, through every continent, Candice searches for inspiration that will allow her to leave beauty for the world in the form of a book of poetry. As children follow Candice's bold path, they will encounter real-life places and events, magical realism based off of folklore from different cultures, poems, and life lessons related to love, loss, purpose, and friendship.
