Shiro Kuramata

This first ever monograph on the highly influential Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata (1934-91) is a two-volume title presenting all of his compelling and idiosyncratic work for a diverse audience of designers and design enthusiasts who love Kuramata but will be surprised to discover the breadth and depth of his remarkable body of work. The first volume features text by Deyan Sudjic, Director of the Design Museum in London, that explores both the ideas and the technical innovations behind Kuramata's most famous works, as well as interviews with, and selected writings by the designer. The second volume contains an illustrated catalogue of works, compiling all 637 furniture, product and interior designs that Kuramata completed in his lifetime.
