The novel includes detailed descriptions of the inner workings of the dining room and kitchen but also includes local legends, a fascinating cast of characters, both staff and guests, and comments on the times. 1969 was the year the first man walked on the moon; the year Teddy Kennedy’s car plunged off the bridge at Chappaquidick; the year Prince Charles was appointed Duke of Wales and was feted at Wentworth-By-The-Sea in a Grand Ball; and the year of Woodstock.
