With his marriage plans in disarray and disgruntled with his corporate employer Andy Krieger leaves Long Island, New York to become a charter boat captain on the Texas gulf coast. Some time after establishing his trade he finds himself deeply involved with the wife of a local business mogul, Shad Reavis. Reavis is operating a vicious real estate scheme, which leads him to murder. When Jimmy Perez, son of Andy's best friend, turns up missing Andy finds evidence pointing to the likely culprit. Meanwhile operating in a background of intrigue is Yanny Bebeaux, dazzling madam of the local brothel.
