Walsall Leather Industry: The World's Saddlers

Walsall is probably the world's greatest center of the saddlery trade. With origins in the Middle Ages, the town's leather industry had over 100 firms exporting their products throughout the British Empire and beyond by the end of the 19th century. They also emerged as the major supplier of military saddlery and harnesses. This book tells the story of this industry, through archived photographs and images.
