Green Accounting (The International Library of Environmental Economics and Policy Series)

Bartelmus and Seifert, both affiliated with the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy GmbH, Germany, collect essays from the 1970s and from the past 10 years on integrated environmental and economic accounting, popularly termed "green accounting," in an attempt to demonstrate that environmental and social concerns need to be factored into mainstream economic analysis and policy. Themes addresses include the dichotomy of ecological versus economic measurement and analysis, the ways in which ecological sustainability can be accounted for by measuring material and energy flows that impair the carrying capacity of natural systems, and the possibilities of linking physical and monetary accounts for assessment of economic sustainability.
