Introduction to Cultural Ecology

An overview of the principles and research base of cultural ecology for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate courses that deal with the intersection of humans and the environment in traditional societies. The text outlines the broad economic strategies (hunting and gathering, horticulture, pastoralism, and agriculture) used by a variety of people, including Northwest Coast Indians, contemporary Mayan farmers, and the Maasai of East Africa.
