About the AuthorBorn in Syracuse, New York, Kitty Burns Florey was an only child who began writing fiction at the age of eight--a mystery set in a pet shop. Her first novel, Family Matters, was a Literary Guild selection and was read aloud in England on BBC Radio. She has published six more novels as well as numerous short stories and personal essays, and is the recipient of a Literature Grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. She has also been a journalist, a writer of catalog copy, and a bookstore clerk. The mother of a grown daughter, Florey lives in New York City with her husband, the artist Ron Savage.
