Educational Regimes in Contemporary India

Fourteen contributions focus on the concept of local, national, and global educational regimes in terms of changing contexts of education and the state, teaching and learning, and different transitions leading to different adulthoods. Their topics include social inequalities and privitization of secondary schools in North India, exclusionary policies, education for the marginalized and those in plural societies, gender and family values in military schools and in government elementary education, cultural disadvantage amongst adolescent women in slums, formal education amongst Dalit young men, and issues of migration within education.
