What is Political Theory?

Starting with papers from a special issue of Political Theory: An International Journal of Political Philosophy of 2002, the editors add essays on political thought in a global perspective and the legacy of John Rawls's work. The ten essays here examine resources and challenges in such topics as pluralism and reconciliation in the current state of political theory, the adequacy of the Western canon, politicizing theory, political philosophy as a critical activity, and the changing boundaries between philosophy and political theory. The essays on political thought in a global perspective include commentary on globalizing political theory and aspects of traveling theorists and translating practices. The closing essays examine political theory, political science and politics and ask what is wrong with political science. Essays include their own resources.
