Language and Literacy (Learning to Read Critically Series)

Designed as a resource for graduate students, this collection of ten articles covers issues from preparing to read critically to reporting a review of the literature. Articles describe developing a critical frame of mind and developing tools to examine academic discourse. A series of articles describes researching such topics as children's language and literacy practice, spoken and written word, literature and the media, and artistic interpretations of literature. The final article addresses systematic literature reviews, and the appendices include resources and a blank form to use when critically analyzing a text. Individual articles include resources.
