Concerned with the positioning of the non-human within the corpus of human geography, Whatmore (geography, Open U., UK) explores questions of bio-technology and the negotiation of scientific and legal innovations and rationales in relation to agriculture and food consumption and to wildlife and nature conservation. She situates a series of paired essays that follow socio-material controversies as they play out in practices of science, law, and everyday life.
