Representing Race: Racisms, Ethnicity and the Media

For over a decade, media representation of political upsurges and social conflicts have sparked research into media, racism, and ethnicity, say Downing and Husband, but the results are not necessarily insightful, the objectives laudable, or the methods adequate. Arguing that the prime motive in framing research on race or ethnicity needs to be to contribute to a just, peaceful, and stimulating society, they propose and partially illustrate under-explored directions such research could take.
