Therapeutic Nursing: Improving Patient Care through Self-Awareness and Reflection

Nurses in the US and the UK have authored ten essays which apply current critical theory to the notion of the therapeutic use of the self in nursing. Using ideas from psychoanalysis, post-structuralism, personal experience, and in one case, the author's poetry, the contributors offer perspectives on the positive impact of self- awareness on nurses' experience based on their own experiences as nurses and teachers.
